Early Years:
Elloma was born on May 25, 2379 to Sigak and Elae Essu. She was born as noble and attended a private charted school, and was been breed to serve in the federation senate like her father and siblings. Her mother was a stay at home mother. She decided at the age of 15, she did not want to become a politician.
From a young age, Elloma has always felt like everything was handed to her. Elloma was raised in a noble home on Krios. Her upbringing on her homeworld, was part of the problem. She felt that she was handed everything. When she was younger, she liked it. But after she became a teenager, she learned to resent her upbringing.
She did not have a lot of friends growing up, she was to busy being trained how to become a good political dignitary, there was the occasional child, she could sit down with at the table. But they really never played, it was always sit still and do not embarrass your parents. She felt that most of her childhood, she was robbed of making long term friendships.
She hated the private schools that she was forced to go too. She was not the only child of the Essu family forced to go. Arwin, her brother was forced to go. And so was her baby sister Nassie.
Elloma knew of Starfleet, she first learned of Starfleet from her private school. They did their best to play down the Federation, and make it seem like it was a serventitude thing. Something you do, if you are low class and wanting to make yourself feel good.
From a young age Elloma decided she wanted to join. Despite her parents objections, and attempts to sabotage her efforts. Elloma did not want to be handed anything in life. She wanted to earn everything. She wanted to proof, she had what it takes to be a real lady.
Elloma wanted to make a difference, and she truly believed she would be able to do that more in Starfleet than on her homeworld. She believed her people to be to narrow minded, and only using the Federation for its protection.
Her father Sigak was trying to get her to follow him, and become a senator of Krios. They wanted her to see, that the Federations were servents, and not equals. Elloma never looked at it that way, in her eyes, her people were blinded by their own dilusions.
High School Years:
2394, at the age of 15 she decided based on what was transpiring in her local senate on Krios. Even after freedom was established on the home world, she noticed certain political members started to express interest that the Federation was to soft and weak and a more aggressive approach was needed. The cited examples of the Synth attack on 2385 just nine years prior. the Krios were debating about joining the Klingon Empire. They did not like the idea of being a servitude race, but at least with them, they could expand their influence. Which was the point most of the government on Krios was trying to make.
The Government knew that the Empire would not allow them to spread their Kriosians ideology to the universe. They would be expected to spread the ideology of the empire, and conquer the universe under the banner of the empire. This was enough to keep the government alligned with the Federation.
The treaty signed for over 27 years (2367), was now in jeopardy. A civil war appeared to be on the horizon, when a deal was struck, to rebuild the Kriosian Fleet. A band aid was placed on the issue, instead of being resolved.
Elloma knew her father and her brother had their work cut out for them. Sigak really wanted Elloma to help him and help their people. Elloma felt that they needed to abandon the old ways, and embrace the change. Her father felt whole heardly that she wrong.
Elloma could tell that her people learned nothing from the treaty. And she could not understand why politician's with power, were pursuing more aggressive stance, then she remembered. The Klingon Empire, is a race of conquering warriors. In some ways her father was in support of the decision to build a fleet to protect the home world was face, for building an invasion force.
By 2396, the Federation was able to talk to the Krios Senate and convinced them to limit the production of starships, and offered to place more federation ships in patrols near the planet. A couple of senators resigned, but this one action re affirmed Elloma's faith in the abilities of the Federation.
Starfleet feared that the Kriosians could be attempting to build an invasion fleet. Elloma knew she wanted to get off the planet as soon as possible. She was now 17 years old, and one year shy of leaving Krios for good. She wanted off this hell hole!
Elloma tried to convince her family to allow her to join the delayed entry program with Starfleet. Her parents refused, and demanded that she join the Kriosian Senate or the Federation Senate. No noble woman, would serve in a commoners role. Her father Sigak, was strongly against her joining starfleet.
Elloma resented her mother and father decision, it only fueled her to do better in school and try to get into starfleet without their support.
May 2397 Elloma graduated from School, her parents tried one final push to get her to join the diplomatic corps for the Kriosian Government. She was to learn about diplomatic courtesy and protocols, but before she was going to be placed into the corps, she told her family she was leaving for Starfleet Academy. She was sponsored by Nikomis Diza, at that time was a friend of the Family. They saw this move as a betrayl by Nikomis. A commonor given a lady of nobility a recommendation, was insulting and benneth them.
Sigak was furious and disowned his daughter, stating if she chose to live with the commoners, she would be treated as one. And she was bringing dishonor to their family name, and to their position of nobility. Her father was forced to cut her out of the family, they forbidded Arwin and Nassie from reaching out to her, and that she was now on her own.
Starfleet Academy:
Elloma left Krios Prime, with nothing. She made her way to Earth and enrolled in Starfleet Academy in May of 2397, she had to wait almost a month for the new class of cadets to start. Being alone was a strange feeling for her, she had to learn to take care of herself. No more servants, shopping sprees, or political niceties that her family name gave her.
From June 2397 through 2401, she enrolled and completed Starfleet Academy. She began her studies in Tactical and Strategic Operations. At first she had thought about enlisting the diplomatic corps, but shot down he idea to security tactical and security operations. She graduated the Academy on May 10, 2401 and by the 19th of May, she was given first assignment. She was instantly promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade after completing the academy. She worked hard to earn her promotion. She also graduated first in her class.
Elloma was given a crash course in reality. She learned fast that most races had removed nobel houses, especially on Earth. There was no form currency. She learned how to clean, how to cook, how to use and repair the replicator. How to take care of herself.
Four the next four years, she tried to send communication to her family, but for over four years, her calls went unanswered. It was clear that her father intention's were being carried out. Elloma had to accept the reality, that she would never see her family again. And that the best thing she can do was, to move on with her life in Starfleet. They would be her new family.
Elloma focused on her duties, when she attended the academy. She did not have time or attention for the men. Despite being attracted to several classmates and students aboard. Elloma needed to prove a point to her people and to her family. She needed to complete the academy.
USS Pioneer:
Elloma joined the crew of the USS Pioneer in June of 2401, and felt so lost and out of control. She had proven her point, but she did she go from here? She was now a starfleet officer, and it was time to start thinking of what type of officer she wanted to become.
Elloma wanted to prove to her command staff that she was a capable officer. She made it very clear to everyone, that she wanted to a be Starfleet Captain. She wanted command of her own starship.
Elloma was still young and niave, and was easily influenced by the power and gravitas of Captain Malbrooke the commanding officer of the USS Pioneer. She was seduced by his title and the power he had on the Pioneer. She has a very short fling with him, but then realized that was a huge mistake. He was a married man, and this was not going to help her career. For the rest of the year she kept her distance from him and focused on her career.The following year she had requested a transfer.
Empok Nor:
Elloma joined Empok Nor in the spring of 2402, her transfer to the station was approved. It was best for all parties. She applied for the second officer position and chief strategic operations officer position. Once she received the position, she proved and busted her butt off for the next two years.
Elloma felt that she was getting her life back in order. Her career was on track. Two years as a second officer, should push her in life for XO after four years of service. and by 2404 her wish was granted, she was accepted into the XO academy. She was on a fast track for promotion.
During her two years on the station she had a romantic fling with Jack Smith, that did not really go anywhere. By 2404 they had agreed to break it off. Mainly because Elloma refused to sleep with Jack. She did not see them advancing as a couple. He did not seem to fit the image she had in her mind. Unknown to her, but she was attracted to Kriosian men. Even though she did find him attractive, it was not in a romantic sense. He was a means to an end. Which sounded mean, but it was the brutal truth.
XO Academy on Planet Rosa:
Elloma spent the year of 2404 preparing for her exams for the XO Academy. She was relentless and sacrificed her relationship with Jack Smith, which was already struggling to began with. So she could focus on all of her courses. She spent several hours in the holodeck preparing. Once she was at the academy, she went straight to work. Again ignoring all distractions.
Elloma has less than six months left at the Academy, she is halfway through the program, when she learns she will be assigned to the USS Alexandria, under the command of Tamara Cooper. She likes the captain, however has never worked with her. She heard they would be serving temporarily together on the USS San Marcos, when they take the ship out later in the semester.
Relationship with Sigak Essu (Father)
Elloma and Sigak had always been estranged, she was a happy free-willed child, that refused to see things her fathers way. Her free-will personality only upset him. He tried really hard to get her to see, that nobles were better than everyone else, and not expandable like commoners.
The final straw for him was in 2396 when his daughter decided she was going to join Starfleet without his blessing. This created a rift between them, and in 2397 he disowned her, telling her never to return.
Relationship with Elae Essu (Mother)
Elloma never really had a relationship with her mother, she was always on the go, preparing the house, cooking the meals, cleaning the house, running er-rounds for Sigak. She married their father, to gain nobility status, they were middle class commoners, that went through the proper channels, to earn noble status for their family.
Her marriage to Sigak was arranged, which made no sense to Elloma. Why would anyone agree to get married for the sake of nobility, she wondered?
Elloma had learned about other races, and the forced marriages being barbaric, it abolished with most civilized races within the federation, so why did they still have it?
Elloma resented her mom as much as she did her father. Her mom never made time for her, it was clear to Elloma, that all her mom cared about was getting her family name placed in a nobility status. Elloma felt sorry for her.
Relationship with Awrim Essu (Brother)
Awrim was four years older than Elloma, he is currently serving the Federation Senate as a representative to the Kriosian Government, last she had heard, he was an attache.
They were never very close, he was older and looked at her like she was a three year old child, that never grew up. Elloma could not understand why he sucked up to their father, and why he could not have a mind of his own?
She firmly believed that he was a puppet, a shadow copy of their father. Elloma wondered how he would react someday if he ever outranked his father in the political courts, or how he would do once their parents passed away.
Like Elloma, he was also not close to their mom. But he treated her like a second class citizen, a skill he learned from their father. She was not very fond of her older brother.
Relationship with Nassie Essu (Sister)
Nassie is two years younger than Elloma, growing up she remained quiet, trying to stay out of trouble. It was not until Elloma and Awrim moved out of the house, did she even begin to open up. Her father was surprised by Nassie, like Elloma, she too decided to join Starfleet.
Here father was not very pleased and disowned her. Nassie blamed Elloma's for her fathers actions. She was upset that her father would treat her so poorly. She believed in the ideals of the federation and she knew how corrupt the Kriosian Government was, they needed more people to serve a greater good, if they were ever going to get the Kriosian upper class to change their ways.
Season 5, Episode 6 "A New Chapter"
Act 1: Elloma joins Starfleet Academy on Planet Rosa. She is instantly taken by the beauty and the glamor of it all.
