Kiera McAlister, born in the home of her ancestors in the Highlands of Scotland, had always been surrounded by a rich tapestry of history. She is number three of fourteen children, born to her father's second wife of five. Kiera found solace and companionship in her large family. Despite the large gap in age between her and her youngest brother, Alister II, their bond remained unbreakable.

The McAlister clan, one of the few that still retained their ancestral lands, maintained their Scottish traditions. Throwing cabers, wearing kilts, defending their lands and sword training. Alex believes as his father before him did that their children learn of their past, that they know where they come from and also are knowledgeable about computers, space exploration and the world around them.
