Personal History Vimko was born on Bolarus IX, the third child of seven. He had two mothers and one father. His parents raised him in a supportive home where his innate obsessive curiosity was accepted, though at times were a source of irritation for his siblings and parents.

Vimko would find a gadget in their home, or one of his siblings' prize possessions and take it apart, just to see if he could put it back together again. What even made further problems was if he couldn’t figure it out, Vimko would accept his defeat and move on to something else. It did not bother him, he was pleased that he had given it his best effort.

When Vimko was ten, his father went on a long trip to Earth. When he returned, he brought all of the children a gift. Vimko was curious about what his gift was, to the point of impatience. When it came his turn, his father handed him three models of starships. Vimko barely took the time to say thank you and he was off to his room to put them together. The gift of those models set the course for Vimko’s future.

Once he put the models together, Vimko became fascinated with starships. With his inquisitive mind, he started asking questions of everyone, wanting to know more about this Federation. The more he collected, the more he knew he wanted to leave home as soon as he could and serve on one of those ships. At first, Vimko considered operations, but the more he studied, the more he knew that engineering was for him.

When Vimko wasn’t deep into his studies for his future, he was out with his friend, Sef, playing Vectorboard. It was a game similar to surfboarding, only more aerodynamic. The board could reach speeds up to 200 MPH, and the rider wore magnetic boots. Vimko, of course, had to make some adjustments to it by taking the board apart and putting it back together, much to his parents' dismay.

When Vimko approached his parents about joining Starfleet, his father was very supportive, as was his mother, Halora. It was his mother Syldra who was adamantly against it. She did not want him leaving their homeworld and disappearing from their lives. Vimko’s father asked him to give them some time to discuss it.

Vimko went to Sef’s home, and they went off to play Vectorboard and got into some mischief. The next morning, when they were eating breakfast, his mother Syldra told him she would support his decision. Vimko was so happy. His passion to go was still there, and he was determined to go out and see the universe, but Vimko wanted to go with his parents' support. It was important to him as he was close to his family.

Vimko and his father were very close. When his mother would get exasperated over his tinkering with things and not putting them back together his father would sit down with him and patiently help him fix them. He also took Vimko with him to different cities where he would find odd gadgets to experiment on.

Vimko knew he had to have high grades for the Academy, so he concentrated on his studies. His friend Sef wanted to go as well, only he was going into Operations. Both of them, having a team mentality, spent a lot of time studying together.

There was a girl that Vimko was fond of, and they started dating in the latter years of his schooling. Darzana was one of the rare Bolians who had hair on her head. Vimko wasn’t certain how he felt about that, but he thought she was fun, and they had a good time together. Over time, Vimko started to have feelings for her. She was fascinated by his ability to take things apart and put them back together again. She would sit and watch him, sometimes helping him out.

When Vimko graduated, he and a bunch of classmates carried out a ritual exclusive to his school – they went to jump in the sea. It was a bit dangerous as the seas were normally angry and crashing on the shore. After they were done, he dressed in a billowy shirt with an open jacket and a pair of pants. The group of graduates then made a fire and cooked aged meat over it.

Later that night, as they sat around the fire, Vimko pressed his forehead to Darzana’s, closing his eyes. Both of their hands went to touch the neck of the other. When Vimko felt her pulse, he started to speak of how much he was in love with her. Darzana responded with her love for him, and then Vimko asked her his all-important question. He wanted her to go with him to Earth when he went to the Academy. She fell silent for the longest time.

Vimko didn’t move at all as she spoke. Darzana spoke of wanting to marry him, of dreaming of one day having a family together. She paused and then explained that she didn’t want to leave her homeworld. She was content to stay where her family was. Vimko was upset to think she had never mentioned this before, and she admitted she was afraid to lose him.

Vimko didn’t know what to say or do. He knew his destiny was out there in the stars, doing what he loved to do - fixing things that were broken. He remembered when he was young and he and his sister Alba had made a makeshift ship and decided to sail the dangerous seas. Luckily, they had only made it a small distance before they were tossed into the water and managed to get back to land. Vimko had never felt such exhilaration; he wanted to feel it again. Dreams of exploring the unknown in space and keeping the ship's engines running were a passion for him.

Darzana spoke first. She told him that she knew as much as she couldn’t leave her home, Vimko couldn’t stay. He started to speak, and she shook her head. Darzana told him that she loved him enough to let him go, and that he needed to do the same. They spent that last night together, and then, with dawn approaching, Vimko walked her home and with sadness headed to pack to head to the Academy.

STARFLEET ACADEMY

Vimko arrived at Starfleet Academy on Earth with high hopes and a burning passion for machinery. Having spent his childhood tinkering with gears and gadgets, he believed that his time had finally come to jump right into the fascinating world of mechanical engineering. However, he soon discovered that his journey at the academy would start not in the workshop, but rather in the confines of a classroom. While many of his peers would have been disappointed, Vimko approached this setback with a different perspective.

To Vimko, knowledge was the fuel that propelled him towards his dreams. He understood that to truly excel in his chosen field, he needed a solid foundation of theoretical understanding. And so, rather than lamenting his fate, he embraced the classroom environment with an insatiable thirst for learning.

From the very first day, Vimko became the embodiment of enthusiasm and curiosity. He eagerly soaked up every word from his professors, meticulously taking notes as if each sentence contained the key to unlocking the secrets of machinery. In class, he was the one who consistently raised his hand, anxiously waiting for his turn to pose a question that would push the boundaries of comprehension.

Vimko's questions were not limited to the prescribed curriculum; his mind was a constant wellspring of ideas and creativity that flowed freely. While his classmates were content with mere rote learning, Vimko yearned for a deeper understanding, always seeking to unravel the mysteries hidden behind the gears and levers he loved so much.

Vimko's professors were equally captivated by his remarkable intellect and creativity. They recognized the potential he possessed and understood that his burning ambition needed to be nurtured. They began to provide him with additional resources and challenging projects, enabling him to explore his ideas further and push the boundaries of what was considered possible.

Word of Vimko's exceptional abilities quickly spread throughout the academy. His classmates sought his guidance, and he gladly shared his knowledge and expertise with them. Within the classroom, he created an environment that encouraged collaboration and offered support to everyone who shared his passion for machinery.

Vimko didn't really make any close friends while he was at the academy, except for his roommate. Most of the cadets found him a bit peculiar, constantly bombarding them with questions as he tried to get to know as much as he could about their lives and interests. His insatiable curiosity, however, never bothered Vimko. He saw it as an opportunity to learn and grow.

His roommate, Lawrence Hill, was a remarkable character himself. Just as inquisitive as Vimko, Lawrence would often grill him about his homework assignments and the cultural nuances of his home planet. Vimko welcomed these discussions, as they broadened his understanding of the universe and its complexities. As they spent more time together, Vimko realized that Lawrence's inquisitiveness masked a deep-rooted desire to connect with others on a meaningful level.

During their few days off from the rigorous academy schedule, Vimko and Lawrence would venture out into the vast open ocean, sailing and swimming under the boundless sky. Vimko had always been fascinated by the water, finding solace and peace amidst the ebb and flow of the waves. The ocean, to him, was a vast canvas of unknown wonders and endless exploration.

While Vimko was away, he made certain to keep in constant contact with his family back home. He knew his mother, Syldra, still worried about him being out there in the vastness of the universe. Despite his excitement and determination, Vimko's deepest desire was to make his mother proud.

Their conversations were the fuel that kept him grounded, reminding him of the love and support that awaited him upon his return.

One particular evening, Vimko sat beneath the twinkling stars aboard their small sailboat, sharing stories and dreams with Lawrence. It was during this intimate conversation that Vimko confided in Lawrence about his mother, Syldra, and the immense love he felt for her. He told him about how she hadn’t wanted him to leave and he worried about her at time. Lawrence listened attentively, understanding the significance of family bonds and the desire to make loved ones proud.

As their days as cadets turned into years, Vimko and Lawrence formed a lifelong friendship, built on a foundation of mutual curiosity, adventure, and love for their respective families. They became each other's sounding boards, cheering each other on through the challenges and triumphs of their chosen paths.

One sad period in Vimko’s life was when his father contacted him to let him know there had been an accident and Darzana had passed away. Vimko still had feelings for her, though he wasn’t certain if it was the same passionate love that had before. She was his first love, he had shared more of himself than with anyone else and he was heartbroken. Vimko felt guilty like maybe if he stayed he could have prevented it. He dragged for a bit, feeling depressed until finally he went with Lawrence for a boat ride and his friend gifted him with a bottle of Bolian Whiskey and Vimko shared his pain with him and told him stories about Darzana. They drank a glass in her honor and headed back for home, late in the night.

Vimko found that talking about it helped. Lawrence talked with him and made him see that he couldn’t change the past but if he wanted to honor her he would live his best life.

Vimko's last year at the Academy was nothing short of an exciting roller coaster. His days were consumed by the enthralling challenges and lessons he faced, testing his knowledge and skills to their limits. But it was at the San Francisco Fleet Yards, working under the guidance of the legendary Commander Abraham Rourke, where Vimko truly discovered the depths of his potential.

From the moment Vimko stepped foot into the Fleet Yards, Commander Rourke took him under his wing, recognizing the spark and determination in the young cadet's eyes. Their days were filled with intense training sessions, where Vimko soaked up every ounce of knowledge and expertise that the Commander had to offer. From mastering complex engineering techniques to honing his tactical capabilities, Vimko relished every moment in Rourke's presence.

Days would turn into nights as Vimko became engrossed in his work, often losing track of time. It was not uncommon for Commander Rourke to find him in the early hours of the morning, still diligently working on a project, the Commander would chide that everyone needs rest, gently herding the exhausted cadet toward the door. Only then would Vimko reluctantly acquiesce and head back to his quarters to sleep, though his mind would continue to race with ideas and possibilities.

As the weeks turned into months, Vimko's passion and commitment paid off. His mentorship under Commander Rourke had transformed him into an exceptional engineer, admired and respected by his peers and superiors alike. But it wasn't just his technical skills that flourished; Vimko's character grew and developed alongside his knowledge. He showed unwavering integrity in his decisions, always prioritizing the safety and well-being of those around him.

Finally, the day of graduation arrived, and Vimko stood proudly alongside his best friend, Lawrence. The ceremony was a grand affair, with families from all walks of life gathered to celebrate the remarkable achievements of their loved ones. Vimko's eyes scanned the crowd, and amid the sea of faces, he spotted his parents, beaming with pride, and his siblings, who couldn't contain their excitement.

As Vimko walked across the stage to receive his diploma, his heart swelled with joy. This was the culmination of years of hard work and sacrifice. He had endured countless late nights and pushed himself beyond his limits to reach this moment. But it was the unwavering support of his family, the guidance of Commander Rourke, and the unyielding determination burning within him that had brought him to this incredible milestone.

Vimko's last year at the Academy was just the beginning of an extraordinary adventure, one where he would continue to push boundaries, inspire others, and ultimately make his mark on the universe. And as he gazed into the endless starry sky, Vimko knew that the future held infinite possibilities, eagerly awaiting his touch of brilliance.

USS YAMATO

Vimko stood in his quarters on the USS Yamato, reflecting on the conversation he had with his mother, Syldra, just before he had headed off to the starship after graduating from Starfleet Academy. It had been an emotional conversation, one that would forever be etched in his memory.

His mother had pulled him aside, her eyes filled with both pride and a hint of apprehension. She had always been supportive of his dreams, but this time it was different. This time, he was stepping into the unknown, embarking on a dangerous journey in the vast expanse of space. With a tender smile, she had reassured him that her heart was good with his decision, and she was undeniably proud of him.

Those words had resonated deep within Vimko, intertwining with the core of his being. It was the confirmation he had yearned for, the assurance that his family accepted and believed in his chosen path. His decision to join Starfleet was not merely a career choice, but a calling, a chance to explore the unknown and protect the Federation.

As chief engineer, Vimko had surpassed everyone's expectations. His accomplishments back at the academy had earned him the trust and respect of his superiors. It was an honor and a challenge he embraced wholeheartedly. Despite the initial surprise, he knew deep down that he was worthy of this role, ready to face the responsibilities that came with it.

Stepping out of his room, Vimko walked through the sleek metallic corridors towards the senior staff meeting. Each step filled him with a sense of purpose and anticipation. He couldn't help but recall the day he received that model starship and how it had been a pivotal moment in his future. As he entered the staff meeting he was excited about the journeys ahead and where they would be with him and the crew.
