The night was all gloomy and the time had finally arrived. Nathaniel was not sure how to feel about the new orders that he hand in his hands or not he was a marine a ground pounder that only practiced fighting in wars. He never thought this day would happen.

Granted Nathaniel had spent some time on a starship before and he did serve with some of the finest starfleet officers in the fleet and he did learn alot from them all. But he had no idea that going through Starship Command School would actually get him a command.

Right now there was a long waiting list of more qualified CO's waiting to get there orders. Nathaniel thought he would be on that list for a few years but that was not the case. From what he was told he was hand picked by Major General Gage to command a ship.

It had almost been a month since Nathaniel last attended the Command School. He was thinking that he was going to be assigned to a Marine Expitionary Unit ie MEF or be assigned to a ship as an Executive Officer.

Nathaniel was resting in his home when a knocking sound came from his front door it was a couple of officers dressed in there uniforms. One of the officers looked at Nathaniel. " Hello Colonel I have orders from General Gage to retrieve you and send you to him he request your presence at once " said Officer 1.

Nathaniel looked at the man for a moment then he said to him. " Well let me get my bags and I am all yours or well all his " joked around said Nathaniel. He went to his quarters and changed out of his civilian clothes and put on his uniform.

He grabbed his bags and walked back out to the front door the two officers where still waiting for him. Nathaniel then walked out the door and locked it on the way out. The second officer looked at Nathaniel " Let me get that for you sir " said Officer # 2.

" Thank you Lieutenant " said Nathaniel noticing that the officer had a 2nd Lieutenant pip on his uniform. The Officer did not say anything else he grabbed the bags and loaded them into the shuttle craft.

Nathaniel walked into the shuttle he was now aboard and took a seat. He wondered where he was going to go he assumed somewhere near or to General Gage. Before to long the shuttle was airborn and they where on there way.

Nathaniel was still on the shuttle it was a long ride to where ever they where going. Nathaniel hoped that the General would just give him his command allow him to go off and explore the universe but something told Nathaniel call it a gut feeling that the General had other plans.

Nathaniel barely knew anything he recieved a letter from General Gage that said he was chosen for command and to be ready to command a ship but it did not tell him what type of ship it was or where they where sending Nathaniel at this moment.

Nathaniel assumed that he was heading to Station Endeavor Four the new starbase that was designed for MACO and for the new Task Force that General Gage commanded. But that was not certain and he was getting annoyed with he silence.

" Where are we going " asked Nathaniel he finally got fed up with the silence. He looked to see which of the two officers would reply first to the question that Nathaniel had asked of them.

" To see General Gage " simply replied Officer # 1 his answer was cryptic but not very forth coming in answers. Nathaniel was not pleased with the answer he asked again " Where " asked Nathaniel.

" Station Endeavor Four Colonel " said officer 2 as he looked at Nathaniel. He atleast answered the question that Nathaniel asked this was going to be a long trip he then looked at officers and said " Well I am going to rest since this will be a long trip are there any sleeping quarters " asked Nathaniel.

" Yes Colonel on the USS Gamgee we will be rendevousing with her in 10 minutes " said Officer # 2 as he looked at his display console. Nathaniel wondered why they where being so quite most pilots love to talk there heads off.

" Thank you " said Nathaniel then he waited for the USS Gamgee to arrive so he can finally get some answers from some more friendly personal. It did not take long to arrive. The USS Gamgee appeared on the main viewer she was a Neptune class starship a bit old but she was still space worthy mainly assigned to escorting duty or transporting duties.

Nathaniel wondered if he would get an older ship like her or a new ship? In any case it did not really matter he would be greatful to get a command within Stafleet. To be a MACO and to command a ship was a rare honor in itself.

The shuttle landed in the bay of the Gamgee. The officers open the pod doors and the skipper was there to greet Nathaniel, he was a young Liuetenant Commander. " Hello Colonel how was your trip " asked the CO of the USS Gamgee.

" Not bad I wish your officers where more forth coming " said Nathaniel as he looked at the two officers. He was surprised on what the Skipper had to say " They are not my men they belong to the General " said the CO of the Gamgee.

" Intresting " then he looked at the men and said to them " You both are dimissed til we are ready to board the station " said Nathaniel he finally understood they where his goons for this short trip.

" Yes sir " said Officer #2 and then both men took off. Nathaniel thought to himself finally they are gone. He was not to pleased on the way he was treated by them. It was the marine training in him.

" So Commander eta til we get to Station Endeavor Four " asked Nathaniel he was wondering how long this voyage would take. It did not take long for him to get an answer.

" Little over a day now I have quarters prepared for you and you are welcome to dine with me for the time you are on the USS Gamgee " said the CO of the Gamgee.

" Thank you I would like that " said Nathaniel as he followed the Commander out of the shuttle bay area. The ship was small and very compact in design. She was designed to be what she detailed a escort ship.

The two of them headed off and he began his tour with a decent officer. It was nice to have someone to talk with on this day long voayage.

Talia Hannah Summers was a newly graduated marine from the academy she was given a commission and was assigned to Station Endeavor Four for Starship assignment. She was curious on what her first duty shift would be she was brand new to the fleet and never served on a ship or had ever left Earth until she went to the Academy.

Talia was a good hearted girl that prided herself on her caring ability to trust and respect in others even if they did not care or respect in her she was a gentle person.

But non of that really mattered on a marine ship and the rumor that she heard that the entire crew was going to be a marine crew. This was going to be a bit strange she thought, but it would be ok.

Talia was aboard the USS Gamgee and rumor had it that her Commanding Officer for the new command was on this ship. She wanted to seek him out but she was not sure if she should do that since they where not officially introduced and she was straight from the academy she had no idea what to expect from him.

Talia decide it would best to wait til they where properly introduced. For the mean time she needed to find somthing to do but for the moment there was nothing really to do on this rust bucket.

On the USS Gamgee there was nothing to do but wait for the crew to be transported over to the new base that carries the new starship. The only excitement on this ship was the CO's Company and the mess hall there was not even a bar on the ship the mess hall doubled as the ship bar.

Nathaniel walked in with the CO and almost everyone stood up and was cheerful to meet the Colonel and there CO. It felt like Nathaniel was a celebrity and the only reason for that was he outranked them all.

It was strange to be on a ship where Nathaniel was the senior ranking officer but he better get use to it because his crew will be the same way. Normally the crew does not outrank the CO.

" So Captain do you have any idea on what my next assignment will be did they atleast tell you " asked Nathaniel. He asked the ship captain of the USS Gamgee he hoped maybe they told him.

" No Colonel but I am cofident that you will learn your ship's name and class as soon as we get to the station " said the ship captain.

" I hope so its strange not knowing " said Nathaniel who was trying to open up to a fellow CO. They where both pretty new on being a CO and Nathaniel had a lot of questions about command and he was asking his new founded friend.

" I bet I would hate to be in your shoes " said the ship captain as he cracked a smile and looked at Nathaniel to hear next responce would be to his statement.

" Thanks Russel " laughed Nathaniel as he looked at Lieutenant Commander Russel Demitri the ship captain of the USS Gamgee. They had just became friends since he arrived on the USS Gamgee.

" your welcome " simply replied Russel as he guided Nathaniel to a seat to sit down. Both men took a seat and waited for the waiter to arrive to take there order.

" Well is there anything you can tell me about my ship " asked Nathaniel as he looked at Russel. His buddy grinned for a moment and then looked at him.

" Your new Chief of Security is aboard the ship " said Russel, he then waited for Nathaniel to respond he assumed that would get his buddies attention.

" Really can you introduce me " asked Nathaniel as he waited for Russel to answer his question about meeting his Chief of Security maybe that person had some answers for him.

" Ofcourse " said Russel then he walked over to the pannel in the room and pressed the intercom " Lieutenant Summers report to the mess hall on the double " ordered Russel then he went to join his friend.

Talia was walking around the USS Gamgee she was looking for some excitement when she heard her name being called out, She wondered why she was being called to the mess hall she had not bothered to meet the crew since she was going to be on the ship for one day only.

Talia made her way to the mess hall as soon as possible she did not want to keep who ever was waiting for her to wait a long time. She really had no idea who was looking for her but that was ok. For the moment she was happy that some one wanted her attention.

It only took a few minutes to get to the mess hall and she looked around noticed that the Ship CO had flagged her down he must have been looking for her. She walked over to him she noticed a Lieutenant Colonel was sitting with him she wondered if this was her new CO. The only way to findout was to ask.

" Hello Captain I heard you called for me " simply replied Talia she was hoping that this man sitting with the Ship Captain was her CO.

" Yes I did have a seat Lieutenant " ordered Russel as he motioned to the open seat next to Russel and the new Marine Officer. Talia did as she was told and took a seat.

" Yes sir " said Talia as she took that seat and then looked at the Lieutenant Colonel " Hello Sir I am Second Lieutenant Talia Summers " said Talia as she reached out her hand in friendship.



" Well I am going to be the Chief of Security but not sure to where or what I was hoping you might now sir " said Talia as she was disappointed that he did not have the answers as well.



" Well Lieutenant and Colonel lets get some drinks shall we " said Russel as he noticed that the waiter had arrived. Then the Ship Captain looked at the waiter.

" I will have a gin and tonic " ordered Russel as he noticed that the waiter took down his drink. Then the waiter looked at Talia. She was still debating what to drink she had no idea but she needed to order somthing.

" White Russian " ordered Talia as she then waited for the Colonel to order his drink she wondered what he was going to order, she wondered what his choice of drink was.

" And for you Colonel " asked the waiter as he waited with a pen and padd to take the order that the Colonel was about to give him.



Talia was surprised by his answer but it was ok.
