In the year 2210, a pivotal moment in Glosian history arrived with the formation of the Astra Union. Astra Carlin, a former Minister of the original Glosian Republic, played a central role in this alliance's inception. She shared a deep sympathy with General Erusha but found herself at odds with his decision to cleave the republic into two distinct factions, one dominated by the military and the other by the church. Astra, however, championed a vision of equilibrium, firmly believing that a union was needed to bridge the yawning chasm. Initially, this collective was known as the Glosian Union, but following Astra's passing in 2220, it was renamed the Astra Union to honor her memory.

Astra Carlin, though already an elderly figure seeking retirement, had her life take a dramatic turn when the Borg launched their devastating attack on Glosia Prime. The assassination of the Emperor and General Erusha's late wife pushed Astra to make a resolute decision: the creation of a new union that would unify disparate forces. Although she held sway over a smaller faction of both the military and civilian populace, most adherents of the religious faction opted to align with Minister Felna.

The Astra Union made its stand, unequivocally advocating for the separation of the military and the church from governmental control. Astra ardently believed that both the church and the military should function in service to the government, rather than imposing their dominance.

The fundamental ideals of the Astra Union revolved around the creation of a Glosian society free from the shackles of religious or military domination. Minister Astra Carlin and her dedicated followers embarked on the colonization of the fifth planet within the system, where they meticulously crafted a novel political structure. This new system was met with swift rejection by the other four major political parties originating from the former First Glosian Republic.

Astra recognized that for the Union to endure, they had to develop a fresh, more stable mode of governance. Hence, she introduced a novel political hierarchy. Instead of being led by a Prime Minister or a monarchy, she advocated for a novel title known as the President to govern the Union. However, the other factions resisted this title, commonly addressing the leaders of the Astra Union as Ministers and Acolytes.

The political structure of the Astra Union included key roles such as the President, Vice President, Speaker of the Senate, Chief Justice, the Senators Council, Judicial Council, Stewards, Governors, Sheriffs, and Acolytes.
