Personal History

Marianne was born to colonists, the youngest of twins by five minutes. Her parents were farmers who planted and raised food for their colony. Marianne and her brother Malcolm grew up very close. They were home schooled for their first few years until a teacher arrived and their were enough students for a school.

Marianne loved growing plants and when she was a young teen she crossbred two apple trees and created a new apple which she got to name. Marianne didn't like school but she loved her science class. She could be found their after school doing projects with her teacher.

She was a sophomore in high school when she was assigned to be David Johnson's lab partner. Marianne thought he was really handsome and that made her shy when she was around him. Eventually, David broke through her shyness and asked her out on a date.

Marianne and David were inseparable. Marianne knew he was the one for her and he felt the same way. They both excelled in school and made plans to attend the academy together. After graduation, before they left for the Academy, David took her on a date on the ocean and asked her to marry him. Marianne said yes.

Marianne was excited and nervous when they left home to go to the academy. She had never gone anywhere and was leaving her parents and twin behind. Malcolm was conflicted over what he wanted to do and was taking some time to decide.

Marianne entered the science program and loved the studies. David had decided on security. She spent many nights studying and working on experiments while David was off running through security simulations. There were times it felt like they never saw each other but Marianne knew once they graduated and got on a ship, things would settle down.

Marianne graduated from the Academy, along with David and they were married the next day while their families were still there. They were assigned to the USS Holland and headed out a few days later.

Marianne couldn't be happier, she was a scientist for Starfleet and married to the man she loved. The three years were wonderful. It was when Marianne brought up starting a family that things got rough. David didn't want children and wouldn't budge. Marianne let it go for the time being but she noticed some changes in her husband. He was moody and angered easily. His personality was changing. Finally, he was sent for a physical after an episode in the security department and it was discovered he had a terminal illness, one that even the best medicine Starfleet had couldn't cure. Two weeks later, David passed away peacefully in Marianne's arms.

Marianne took his passing hard. She followed his wishes and after cremation took his ashes home and buried them in one of David's favorite places. After a few days of visiting both their parents, she returned to Starfleet and buried herself in her work. She was promoted up the chain and was promoted to chief and assigned to the USS Nautilis. She brought with her a minature rat terrier named Rocky and two pet hamsters.
