| Personal History |  The Early Years: When Brandon was a child, the Federation went to war with the Dominion, and he saw how that affected his parents. He told himself, he would never be like his parents and give up on the Federation. They talked about the glory days of the past, and he did not see what they meant, until years later. Brandon had a pretty good childhood, he really loved to play hockey growing up. He was a local town hero. Brandon did not have a lot of personal friends. Despite this he was very popular. He always felt that most kids liked him, because he was good at playing hockey. They treated him like a local legend, and were more interested in using him for his fame, than actually talking to him. Brandon had a few girlfriends growing up, but most them were also using him for his fame. Which did not allow for any growth between them. When Brandon was not playing hockey he helped take of his siblings. He has three brothers and two sister, he is the oldest of the family. This really annoyed several of his girlfriends, they claimed he did not want to spend time with them. From Brandon's perspective all they wanted to do was show him off like a trophy. Most of his relationships were artificial and typically ended after 6 months. In 2379 Brandon graduated high school and joined Starfleet. He attended the academy. He completed his courses in 2383 and was assigned to the USS Bradbury. Two years after serving on the Bradbury he learned about the attack on Mars in the Sol System. He could not believe that android's were responsible for the attack. He then understood what his parents meant when they said Starfleet changed. After the attack, Starfleet became a pacifist society and stopped their exploration initiative.  Starfleet Academy Brandon had an interest in the science field. He discovered this in science class during his high school years. Brandon enrolled into the science program at the Academy. His first year, he felt a little over whelmed. Especially in xenobiology. There was a lot to learn, it was different than high school but he discovered the more he learned, the more he liked it. Brandon spent most of his first year studying xenobiology and general sciences, to sit down leave him a lot of time to socialize. Even though he had a interest in science he discovered is a lot harder than somebody else going to be but he was determined to see it through. He spent most of the first year getting a feeling and understanding for what it would be like to work in the science division. Friend is second year at the Academy allowed him a little more flexibility to finally socialize and to make friends, he felt that he had a good grass on what was expected and what he needed to learn he was able to manage his time better. Brandon befriended three friends that remain close to this day. Toby Carlsson, Esmeé Haas and Harry Anderson. In a strange place of Fate all three officers are assigned to the fleet yards in 2405. The four of them remain closed throughout the years. During his second year and with his new found friends he found a self-confidence starting to accept the fact that you're at the Academy was just another guy he wasn't some local Small Town hero. The second year he really strived in creating new relationships with people. By the end of the second year he started dating a girl name Marie Ellison. They continue today for the next 2 years until they both got their assignments she was assigned to Starbase 315 and he was assigned to the USS Tanni Tuva. They agreed to end their relationship because they didn't believe in long distance would work, their residency assignments nearly broke them up because of insecurities Marie's part. She didn't like that either of them being separated, she knew that she needed a person in her life on a daily basis and since he didn't want to come to the station that basically ended their relationship.  USS Tannu Tuva Brandon was assigned to the USS Tannu Tavu was a Norway class starship. He served as a science officer aboard the ship for nearly two years. During that time he met and befriended Kimberly Walker. The two had a fiery friendship. During the first two years of this assignment they just remain friends. Brandon was assigned to the beta shift, focusing his efforts on learning everything he could so he could apply to be an assistant chief science officer. This goal was to become a department head where his 30th birthday, he already felt like he lives behind because he knew there were other officers starting their careers as department heads. He felt that he wasn't given a fair chance by Starfleet because he was in the top of his class. So now he was going prove himself. Brandon had a very competitive streak in them and over the next two years he built up a solid reputation as a quality science officer. Brandon utilizes his friendship with Kimberly to in order to help him succeed and in process doing the same for her helping her succeed in her profession. It was a mutual beneficial friendship between the two of them which allowed them to draw real close to one another. The thing he liked about her when she was just as committed as he was to her career, and they both had bad experiences with relationships. His ended because she didn't want long distance relationship. And her relationship ended because she didn't want to commit to marriage and children. It was nice to have a friend that did not have ulterior motives. Over the next two years they loved a very strong bond with each other. It was based on trust, commitment and integrity. in early 2385 Brandon applied for an Assistant Chief Science Officer position aboard the USS Callisto. What made it better was the fact that Kimberly was accepted into Assistant Chief Engineer role on the USS Callisto.  USS CallistoBrandon was really excited for the transfer to the USS Callisto in part because he is moving up to an assistant chief science officer position and another part is good friend Kimberly Walker would also be joining him. Shortly after they both arrived on the USS Callisto, they started to date. This did not happen immediately. They decided to start dating after the attack on Mars, when the Synth attacked the fleet yards. This attack, caused both officers to re-evualate life and decide how short life really was. The Callisto was a dream assignment for Brandon, he always wanted to serve on a scientific now he had the opportunity he kind of hoped one day that he would command a science vessel. Once he got there, his priorities of quick advancement fell by the way side. He felt like he was in his dream job. Brandon spent the next 5 years on the shift learning everything he could about the science department, and building his relationship with Kimberly. Brandon treated the Callisto as if it was a dream of assignment unlike his friend Kimberly. He always believed Kimberly treated as another assignment to get to her next goal. He knew that she wanted to be promoted a Second Officer so after 2 years she started applying, and so did he mainly out of obligation. Imn 2389 they both were given opportunities to advance, Kimberly was offered the USS Elysium while he turned down the USS Halifax which was an aging Miranda Class Starship. Brandon didn't want to give up his post on the Callisto and at the four year mark he was offered his own department on the Callisto as his former department head and Second Officer became XO of the USS Halifax. Kimberly believed he was making a mistake, holding himself back. Brandon felt that taking on the Chief Science Officer position in 2387 would have been a mistake. The way he saw it, the Luna class was far superior science vessel compared to the Miranda Class. The ship design was over a hundred years old, and did not have all the same bells and whistles that the Brandon never understood why Lieutenant Commander Chad Corolla accepted an XO postion of a Miranda class starship. He would have had a chance to work with his former chief, and second officer of the USS Callisto. In his own mind it seem like a step down, granted it did have science labs but it was no Luna class starship. Kimberly tried telling him that he was making a mistake by not accepting the command position on the Halifax. He don't want to hear it because he prefer to be on the Luna class, he wished she would have stayed but he also respected her decision. Starfleet decided to give the Chief Science Officer position to another officer. That man was Lieutenant Andor, a Bolian who was more qualified than Brandon was. Brandon's and Kimberly's relationship was on and off again over the previous 4 years. It was really tested after 2389 through 2395 when she kept getting promoted, and he remained further and further behind in his career. They did there best to continue on, but it was proving challenging as they continue to be on and off again. In March 2389 Kimberly Walker was offered Second Officer of the USS Elysium. Brandon remained a Assistant Chief Science Officer. Kimberly continued to serve chief engineering officer aboard the ship, as she learned what it would take to be second officer. He knew she wasn't going to stay there long. She wanted her own first officer position, so she really pushed herself hard which in his mind was part of the reason why they were on and off again relationship. There was a lot of chemistry between them, but they had both had decided to make Starfleet their primary focus, but it didn't stop them from loving one another or trying to spend time together. In 2390, Lieutenant Andor was killed in the line of duty, and this time Starfleet decided to promote Brandon to Chief Science Officer of the USS Callisto. He was a little hesitant to take the promotion, but he knew that he was more than qualified. By 2392, Kimberly was eligible for her own first officer position while he was still stuck as a department head at this point he seriously considered taking on a role of Second Officer but decided at the time it would not be in his best interest because he was really enjoying his career at this point with the USS Calisto. By 2394 and after Kimberly has secured her own first officer position, Brandon felt a little pressured into becoming a second officer, is long-term on and off again girlfriend kept saying he couldn't just date a department head that he needed to move up to his career she felt like he was stagnating himself by saying there's just because it was a science vessel. Brandon's biggest fear was the fact that he knew he could be a assigned to any other ship. Deep in his heart, he was a scientist. He only wanted to serve on a science vessel. He was not sure why he was so fixated on a science vessels, he knew that it was holding him back from getting promoted,so against better judgment, he openly applied for any second officer roles. Brandon applied and was accepted in 2392 for the role of Second Officer and Chief Science Officer of the USS Merrimack which was a Nebula Class Starship. Even though she was not as advanced as a luna class starship, she was still a good sceince vessel. A lot better choice than the aging Miranda Class Starship.  USS MerrimackIn 2394 Brandon accepted the role of Second Officer on the USS Merrimack. The Nebula Class Starship was seemed to be a good fit for him. He was sad to leave the USS Callisto after 8 years, but this seemed to be a good fit for him. His on again and off again girlfriend Kimberly Walker and him found a new level of happiness. Brandon remained on the Merrimack for four years before moving into a first officer role. This seemed to be a golden age for Brandon, he was still a department head, and now second officer. The universe seemed complete. He debated about not advancing his career. But then he remembered he still had the fire and passion to be a captain of a science vessel someday. Kimberly was assigned to the USS Crabtree as Executive Officer, while he was promoted to Second Officer and Chief Science Officer of the USS Merrimack. Brandon really felt the heat from Kimberly, because in 2396 she attended the CO Academy on Bajor. By 2397 she was given command of the USS Cydonia while he remained as a second officer. Brandon started to wonder if she was right, was he holding himself back. At the time he decided not to move forward with his career. Twice in 2398 Brandon was offered two positions as first officer. The first one he turned down. He had no desire to be a first officer aboard the USS Tompkin a small saber class escort vessel. The second offer was on the USS Halifax the miranda class ship he turned down a few years back. In 2399 he did accept the third offer Starfleet had given him. He was going to be Executive Officer of the USS Erebus in 2400. Once he completed the academy. The Erebus is a Nova Class Refit design, a true science vessel. Not as luxurious as a Luna Class, but still a good ship nontheless.  Starfleet Academy: XO AcademyBrandon really was not sure about making the change from science officer to command officer, but he knew this would assist him in his ultimate goal of commaning his own science vessel down the perverbial road. Brandon attended the XO on the planet Betazed. What a lovely planet, it was hard to believe back in the 70's the Dominion wiped out this section of land that he was now attending the academy at. The Betazed's had a knack for beauty and art. At first Brandon had a hard time accepting the fact, that people around him were telepathic. But he got over his insecurities.  USS ErebusBy 2401 Kimberly had moved her way into another command, while Brandon was barely a year into the excutive officer role. He felt that he still had a lot to learn. She was given command of the USS Merkava. Brandon knew that he needed to sharpen his skills, if he was ever going to get a command of his own. He spent the next three years trying to get his own command, but Starfleet seemed a little more hesitant to offer him the big chair. In 2404 he was accepted into the CO Academy by Vice Admiral Domingo Martinez, he told him that this was his one big chance, and if he took it that he would give him a command. Brandon talked to Kimberly, she told him to take it. Even if he did not get a science ship, that he could always transfer later. He needed to prove himself as a viable command level officer. Brandon relunctantly agreed. He would have preferred to be in command of a science ship. He hated going open contract and allowing the Admiral to decide.  Starfleet Academy: CO AcademyBrandon spent the next year learning everything he needed to know about commanding a starship. He was very nervous about being assigned to a small escort like vessel. Other people in his class seemed to be okay with any assignment they were given. He was hoping for a science vessel command. Kimberly did her best to help him through, but the stress of him not getting to choose his command was straining their relationship. But they managed to work through it over the year. Brandon completed the academy in December 2384 and was assigned to the USS Dragonstar. This was not the ideal command he wanted. Kimberly advised him that the Akira Class Escort Carrier was a very noble ship to command. She was a sexy design as well. She was really trying to push him into thinking this was a good idea. Brandon did like the idea of them being able to spend time together at the Fleet Yards. He was also not very happy about being assigned to the Second Tactical Wing. But like Kimberly said, give this a couple of years, and before to long, he could be in command of another starship. Hopefully a science vessel. Brandon accepted the offer and took command of the USS Dragonstar on January 1st, 2405. |
